Unlocking the Mind of Franziska Preuß: Five Intriguing Questions for the Biathlon Star
Franziska Preuß finished a standout season. She kept her shots fine and her pace steady. At 31, she won two discipline globes and the World Cup Total Score Globe. Her season held many wins and hard work. We spoke with her soon after she returned to her home in Bavaria. She shared thoughts about her journey, her mind set, and the drive behind her wins.
1. How Did You Stay Positive Through Health Challenges?
Preuß faced a long road of sickness and injury. She says, “I never lost the love for this sport and the trust that I can succeed.” For her, trust in herself and the pure fun of biathlon helped her push through hard times.
2. What Changed This Season to Keep You Healthy?
A change began with a nose operation in March before the season. She now takes steps like wearing masks, cutting down on indoor meet-ups, and enjoying a Christmas outdoors. “Many small steps worked well,” she says.
3. Did You Dream of Such Success When You Started?
Starting biathlon at 16, Preuß did not chase medals at the start. “In those days, biathlon was just fun,” she recalls. She learned and grew slowly without thinking about trophies.
4. How Long Will It Take to Grasp Winning the Crystal Globe?
She still takes in what her win means. “I am still in this process. It might take a while,” she admits. This win is a moment that makes her stop and think.
5. What Role Has Your Partner Simon Schempp Played Over the Years?
Her partner and fellow biathlete Simon Schempp has been very important. He stood by her when health issues struck. “Very important,” she confirms, noting his steady support in hard days.
A Glimpse Into Home Life
After a winning Oslo weekend, returning home brought simple joys. She enjoyed “Schnitzel mit Pommes,” got needed rest, and met Simon again. In Ruhpolding, as spring becomes summer, she reconnected with friends – a sign of the warm community that lifts her spirit.
As focus now shifts toward the 2026 Olympic Winter Games, Franziska Preuß shows a mix of strength, firm belief, and steady work. Her season stands as proof of what happens when love for the sport meets hard work and support.
